There are two local companies who specialize in everything on the water from basic canoe hire to white water rafting and everything in between.

Walking and Hiking
The inner Salzkammergut is a walker’s paradise with its endless forests; wildflower meadows and crystal clear water all contribute to the stunning scenery of the Dachstein area. There are hundreds of different well sign posted walks and hikes as well as climbing routes.

The fantastic local guided walking program starts in mid August and runs through until the end of October and offers guided walks and hikes of varying degrees of difficulty. The walks can be pre-booked at the tourist office.

Mountain biking
There are in excess of 400 kms of dedicated Mountain bike trails and specially prepared cycle routes in the immediate area. All the pathways are clearly marked. There are always plenty of Gasthof’s and huts en route for refreshment!

Horse riding
Much more than a riding lesson! You groom and then tack up your pony and then enjoy a ride in the beautiful scenery of Obertraun. Lesson start at 12 Euros per hour.

Tennis
There are two tennis courts in the village – rackets available to hire.

In the heart of the Lake District you will find one of Austria's oldest golf courses. The ancient high trees and the deep blue lake with it's overgrown banks both contribute to the charm of this challenging old course.

The club lays claim to one famous old member Edward, Prince of Wales who played here in 1937. Lush green fairways, lakes, billard smooth greens and then on the 16th fairway a breathtaking view of the Salzkammergut mountains awaits every player.

Swimming
The swimming beach at the lake is less than one minutes walk away from the Hotel. Here the lake is shallow and the water warm – perfect for children. Further along the beach is the play area and volley ball court. Take a picnic and stay the afternoon.

There are two local outdoor swimming pools one in Bad Gosiern and one in Bad Ischl. Both have a baby pool, a family pool, lane swimming pool, a diving pool as well as a flume. There is an indoor pool in Gosau as well as the pool in the Health Spa in Bad Ischl.

Summer Toboggan Run
Super fun for all the family - situated overlooking lake Wolfgang, this outdoor attraction is the longest double summer toboggan run in Europe. Open daily from 10.00am.

The Blue Dome
Newly opened, this unique park explores everything to do with water. Its an attraction that the weather can’t spoil. Situated near Wolfgangsee approximately 35 minutes by car from Obertraun.

St. Wolfgang
