If skiing isn’t your thing or you just
fancy a days rest from the slopes there is still plenty
to do in and around the area.
Sledging
Not far from Obertraun, the Postalm has a fantastic sledging
area for the whole family. Including in the ticket price
you get free use of all the different sledges and you can
have as many goes as you like. There is even moving carpet
to get you to the top – saves your legs! The wide
valley means that the area is in full sun and the restaurants
have great views of the surrounding slopes.

In the village there are some great spots for sledging –
just follow the local kids.
Snow Shoe Tours
This can be arranged thought a local company. Provided in
the price is the equipment and they offer various different
itineraries from a days snow shoeing to a days tours including
a construction of an igloo.

Alternatively, you can just hire the shoes and go off and
explore some of the many paths in the area.
Cross Country Skiing
If down hill skiing doesn’t appeal what about trying
cross country skiing? There is a beautiful route that can
be picked up just metres from the Hotel and it runs round
the village and extends into the forest. It is a truly magical
experience. The ski equipment can be hired from the local
ski hire shop.

get the bug – there is a great circuit in Gosau and
also Bad Goisern. Maps available
Horse drawn sleigh rides and Riding
The local riding school offer one hour horse drawn sleigh
rides.
Also horse riding is available through out the winter months
(12 Euros per hour)
